Alert Description
* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 10-16 feet with dangerous rip currents. Largest surf focused across northwest facing beaches late Saturday through Sunday morning. * WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches. * WHEN...From 11 AM Saturday to 3 AM PDT Tuesday. Surf may subside below advisory criteria as early as late Monday morning. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore.
Safety Instructions
Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks.
