Alert Description
* WHAT...During the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water levels expected. During the Small Craft Advisory, expect sustained winds up to 23 knots from the south with gusts up to 34 knots expected. During the Gale Watch, expect sustained winds up to 27 knots from the west with gusts up to 37 knots possible. * WHERE...Inner Saginaw Bay SW of Point Au Gres to Bay Port MI. * WHEN...During the Low Water Advisory, the maximum winds are expected around 5 AM EST Friday with the largest waves expected around. During the Small Craft Advisory, the maximum winds are expected around 7 PM EST Thursday with the largest waves expected around. During the Gale Watch, the maximum winds are expected around 5 AM EST Friday with the largest waves expected around. * IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Persistent south to southwest gales Thursday will cause water levels to drop near or below low water datum. The current forecast is for water levels at Essexville to drop to 14 inches below low water datum. The critical mark for safe navigation is 10 inches below low water datum.
