Alert Description

...The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Louisiana... Amite River At Bayou Manchac Point affecting East Baton Rouge Parish. Amite River At Port Vincent affecting Livingston and Ascension Parishes. For the Amite And Comite Rivers...including Olive Branch, Comite Joor Rd, Darlington, Grangeville, Magnolia, Denham Springs, Bayou Manchac Point, Bayou Manchac Near Little Prairie, Port Vincent, French Settlement, Maurepas...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Amite River at Bayou Manchac Point. * WHEN...From Friday morning until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Amite River Road and Horseshoe Drive will be impassable. A few homes on Horseshoe Drive will flood. Water will be approaching Kendalwood Road and access to property will be threatened. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 5:30 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 5.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning and continue rising to a crest of 10.5 feet Monday morning. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.2 feet on 02/21/2012. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
